The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans

. . . . has a blogroll that I just joined. The name was too cute to pass up. Seriously though, I need to get back on that weight loss path I was on earlier this past year. After reading through this blog, I think this will be a great site to help me with my goal. Check it out and see what you think: http://shrinkingjeans.net/

Welcome to my blog!!

I don't know how much interesting information you will gain reading this, but who knows???

I wanted to start this blog so I could use it as a means of promoting both my Etsy and ArtFire stores. So, I thought it might be good to show you all a picture where all my creativity occurs. Of course, you really can not see too much, but you at least kind of get an idea. This was how I decorated my latest acquisition, my old store counter from the defunct old National Store that was in Scottsville, for Christmas this year. I decorated a tree in each room of my house except for the master bedroom and the master bathroom. The tree in this room is decorated with ornaments that either reflect Kentucky or Texas and/or is a cardinal. My scrapbook room/studio is definitely an homage to my time spent in Texas as well as a reflection of me liking cows. If you ever see it in person, think Cracker Barrel because there is stuff EVERYWHERE! The counter sits smack dab in the center of the room and there is just enough space where you can walk around it. It is bar height which is absolutely wonderful for me!

Another thing you might notice, if you have not already, is that I LOVE old things, antiques, vintage, whatever you want to call it. You can see an old metal Coca-Cola stand that holds my old jars of ribbon behind the Christmas tree. The Christmas tree is standing in an old wire basket (this is the only one this shape that I have ever seen) that I decorated with fresh greenery. The cowboy's rope in the background is a legitimate rodeo competition rope (that is probably not the correct terms) that was given to me by dear friends in Texas. It is hanging from an old tobacco hook that was used to pull tobacco baskets (one of which I have in my living room). You can't see the 10-gallon cowboy hat that they gave me in this picture, but is hanging nearby on the next wall. To the left of the Coca-Cola stand are several different branding irons (each is a different number) that were bought at an auction. They are standing in an old yellow wooden scoop that was used in some type of warehouse for feed, grain, etc.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my home. Come back soon!!!
